COLOR MISSION

An ISO200 C-41 film with a purpose

Color film production is one of the most sophisticated challenges in photo manufacturing.

This has been the ultimate goal since the beginnings of the new ADOX.

The goal was so close

We have already reached this point once, in cooperation with another company. However, that facility went bankrupt, leaving us only with the first batch of color material.

Now,  ADOX is ready to start R&D again – this time, fully independently.

What we have now

We have a team of trained chemists, a running emulsion production department, and we are building a coating machine in Bad Saarow, Germany along with running a coating machine in Switzerland.

How we work

The ADOX chemical production is financing the research of new photochemistry. The Polywarmtone emulsion is helping to advance the paper product development.

Further film research & development requires significant investments too.

How we move forward

We could do a Kickstarter. But instead, we decided to give our supporters a real product.

ADOX is releasing Color Mission – those films coated a few years ago, kept in the cool house until this moment.

Delicately vibrant tones with minty greens and peachy reds.

Airy grain, ISO 200, and a purpose at the core.

All the sales profits from this product will be going specifically to film research – not chemistry, not paper emulsion – film.

We are excited to be starting a journey to a completely new product for the analog community, while already making a beautiful color film available.

Q&A

HOW SOON IS ADOX GOING TO MAKE A NEW FILM ?

We are being realistic and not promising to deliver a product next year – in four years, perhaps. What we can promise, is staying committed to this goal.

WHAT WILL THE NEW FILM LOOK LIKE ?

Even with the recipes of a certain film, cloning it in another emulsion kettle is close to impossible. If our color mission succeeds, most likely it will have its own unique characteristics.

AFTER THE STORAGE TIME, IS THE COLOR MISSION FILM STILL OF GOOD QUALITY ?

It has not been stored very long, and has always, since we received it right after coating, been in one cool house, unmoved. It kept extra well, and has not lost it’s original 200 ISO speed.

HOW MUCH OF THE COLOR MISSION FILM DOES ADOX HAVE IN STOCK ?

According to our sales expectations, the supply will last long enough to bridge the time until the new film comes, and possibly a bit longer.
